Among its best-performing EDiR candidates, the EBR has selected six promising young radiologists from different countries and different backgrounds to form the “EDiR Holders” team.
The EDiR Holders are responsible for creating new material that is published weekly on the blog with a view to helping other radiologists prepare for the EDiR.
Dr. Czarniecki
Dr. Marcin Czarniecki completed his training in Europe, and works at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital as a fellow. He holds the European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR) and trained in Warsaw, Poland and in Cambridge, UK. His work later took him to the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland where he researched novel prostate imaging. He is interested in prostate imaging, information technology and medical education.

Dr. Ghoneim
Dr. Alia Ghoneim obtained the Saudi board of radiology certification in December 2015 and the European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR) in March 2016. She then had her Neuroradiology specialty training in Glasgow, UK from 2017 to 2019. She currently works as Neuroradiology consultant and assistant professor at King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Gümeler
Dr. Ekim Gümeler was born in Safranbolu, Karabük, Turkey in 1985. She obtained her medical degree form Hacettepe University’s Faculty of Medicine in 2009. She started her residency in Hacettepe University, Department of Radiology in 2010 and graduated in 2015. After working as a general radiologist for two years, she has been working in the Neuroradiology section of the Radiology Department of Hacettepe University since 2017.

Dr. Pons
Dr. Albert Pons Escoda was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1985. He completed his radiology training in 2014. He then worked as an emergency radiologist (non-vascular interventionism and diagnosis) for one year. Since 2015 he has been working as a clinical and research neuroradiologist and since 2018 he is a certified resident mentor at the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge, in Barcelona.
He holds the European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR) and the European Diploma in Neuroradiology (EDiNR).

Dr. Tolman
Dr. Christine Tolman studied medicine at the University of Utrecht (medical exam 2013) and underwent specialist training as a radiologist at Haaglanden Medical Center in The Hague (2013 – 2017) and at Leiden University Medical Center (2017 – 2018). During the training she subspecialised in neuro and head/neck. After completing her studies, she worked on the Caribbean Islands as visiting radiologist and undertook a short-term subsidised European fellowship in thorax radiology in Leuven. Dr. Tolman holds the European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR), the European Diploma in Neuroradiology (EDiNR) and the Dutch Hybrid Imaging / Nuclear Medicine Certificate for radiologists. Since January 1, 2019 she has been working as a radiologist at the Groene Hart Hospital.

Dr. van Hoyweghen

Dr. Astrid van Hoyweghen has been working as a staff radiologist in the Antwerp University Hospital for two years. She is dedicated to imaging of the chest, breast, abdomen and pelvis, but her secret passion is forensic imaging. She loves teaching, and strongly believes that learning is a lifelong process!
